As is its practice, the IRS likes to bring high profile criminal cases during the run-up to April 15 as an incentive to taxpayers to get right with the Government. The UBS mess offers the IRS some rather easy pickings and ability to squeeze U.S. persons into quick pleas for even more publicity. Today's news is that the IRS will soon announce further criminal cases against UBS depositors along with plea agreements in at least some of the cases. Some of the announcements are (I will supplement as I become aware of good articles):
